Turkey Sandwich (Classic Deli-Style)
This is the turkey sandwich you make when you want lunch in 5 minutes and you don’t want to cook a single thing. Soft bread, mayo, sliced turkey, crunchy lettuce, and juicy tomato. Mustard is optional, but it *really* helps if your turkey is a little boring (no offense, turkey).

bookmark_star Instructions
-
Get set up on a cutting board and grab a knife. Quick check: make sure your bread isn’t mysteriously stale… unless you enjoy chewing as cardio.
-
Lay out the white bread or whole wheat bread and spread mayonnaise on one or both slices. Go light if you’re team neat sandwich. Go heavy if you’re team “I regret nothing” (just… don’t squeeze it like a stress ball later).
-
Add the mustard (optional) right on top of the mayo. Smear it evenly. A little gives a nice bite. A lot gives a sinus wake-up call — which, honestly, is sometimes the goal.
-
Layer the turkey breast slices on the bread. Fold the turkey a bit instead of laying it flat — it makes the sandwich thicker, tastier, and less sad. (Flat turkey is the beige wallpaper of lunch.)
-
Top with lettuce and tomato. Slice the tomato if you haven’t yet. Pat the tomato dry-ish if it’s super juicy, unless you want that soggy-bread situation that ruins your mood at 1:07 PM.
-
Close the sandwich, then press it gently so it holds together. Cut it in half if you’re feeling fancy or if you need to share (or pretend you will, and then don’t). Serve right away.
lightbulb_2 Tips
Pro tip: If your tomato is super watery, slice it and give it a quick paper-towel blot. This keeps the bread not sad.
Common mistake: Don’t stack the lettuce only on one side like a weird salad hat. Spread it out so every bite gets that crunch.
Pro tip: For a cleaner bite, spread mayonnaise on one slice and mustard on the other. It sounds obvious, but I’ve mixed them together and then wondered why it tasted like confused condiments.
Funny warning: If you overfill it, don’t blame the sandwich when it explodes. That’s not the sandwich’s fault. That’s you living your best life.
Swap idea: Out of mayonnaise? Greek yogurt works great for a lighter vibe. It’s tangier, so keep the mustard lighter unless you want your mouth to do jazz hands.
